The contract specifies that the volunteers will remain at the Fort St Jean or other dwellings and places belonging to the lord La Tour that they will be with his service. Food and the advances will be deduced from their wages La Tour begins to pay them their return, food included at the end of their contract. Small history of the voyage: The ship Le Saint Clement comes to help the Fort of the River St Jean where lives Charles of St Etienne lord of tLa Tour. This ship ordered by Etienne Mouron is chartered by Protestant merchants of La Rochelle. May 20, of Aulnay forces it to stop in French bay but it escapes and takes refuge in Boston where La Tour convinces Bostonnais to rent 4 ships with 70 men to him. It will fight of Aulnay with its 5 vessels and the constrained one to return in the roads of Port-Royal. |
