Crew of the ship Corsaire Le Machault   built in 1756 at Granville weighing 300 tons  armed for Warfare  with  24 cannons and 6 tons of goods, 6 pounds calibre cannonballs, with 16 bomb-ketch, 130  guns,  draughting 14 feet loaded  11 feet unloaded, 2  decks, 2 poops,

Owned and armed by Sieur Des Aulnaies Lucas  at Granville  commanded by   

Sieur Lemeugnonet   bound in chase which crew he paid on acocount future  wages .

Departed Granville  December 6, 1756

Returned to Granville  June 17, 1757

Annotation :
The name of the Boat is to honour the Minister of Louis 15, Jean-Baptist de Machault d' Arnouville (1701/1794), French politician, general controller of finances (1745/1754), Minister of Justice (1750/1757) and Secretary of State of marine(1754/1757). In 1749, he tried the first to establish an income tax (twentieth) concerning with equality all the orders of the nation. Badly supported by Louis 15 , his reform failed.

Note: We find on board this boat much of Captains,  Graded lieutenants and Other of the simple fact that the fishing vessels not being able to leave the sailors engaged on board the corsairs to the service of Roy.

Ship-owner and Captain let us certify this true crew going up at the sum of ten nine thousand thirty five pounds paid to the 288 people  named to go in chase subjecting to pay to Mister Le Tourneur particular treasurer of the invalids of the marine of Granville The sums of money  and to give copy of the crew to him, with the certified copy of the receipt which it will provide, and moreover to represent the crew at the office of the classes of the port, in which the Corsair will make his disarmament, to justify there by particular certificates the intendants of the colonies, consuls in the countries or there is benches, or officers of the classes, the deserters or remained sick, and deaths by funeral extracts, to pay the  sums of money per pound of perfect payment, and to observe the ordinances of its Majesty, hardly of five hundred pounds of fine
