Leaving La Rochelle Feb. 26, 1664 with Le Teron and many other vessels well equipped with provisions and ammunitions for the war, the Breze commanded by Alexandre de Prouville, Marquis de Tracy, Knight, Counsel to the King and Commander-in-Chief of the troops in Nouvelle-France stopped over at Madeira and Cap Vert where Mr. de La Barre gave a splendid reception. The correspondent, Martin Forland, wrote in the Dictionnaire de la marine, the Breze commanded by Job Forant was attacked off Portugal by 5 Turkish vessels in pursuit. Then the ship made for Cayenne to charge the Dutch Governor to give the island to the French. De La Barre, under the King's orders, stayed in place with his ship. The Breze continued its route towards Martinique and Guadeloupe where he made for Santo Domingo on April 25, 1665. The favorable winds permitted safe crossing of the Caicos to take the Bahamian currants off Florida and to round Bermuda in less than a month of their departure. Arriving at Perce at the end of May at the same time as 2 other ships from La Rochelle carrying 4 companies of the Carignan Regiment: Berthier (L'Allier), La Brisardiere (Orleans) La Durantaye (Chambelle) and Monteil (Poitou). The winds changed and the water's pull led the Brese to Perce. The 2 others ships le Cat and the Vieux Simeon brought the soldiers to Quebec City. The Relations gave 2 different dates for the arrival of these w lighter ships, June 20 and 20; probably some boats followed these latter ones. On board also was the Jesuits, Claude Bardy and Francois Duperron. Meanwhile the Marquis de Tracy fell sick and weakened by fever, he declined a magnificent reception in his honor which the people of Quebec had prepared, but they accompanied him to the church to meet the bishop. Later the Huron and the Algonquin gave him a grand reception with an exchange of gifts to seal their alliance against their common enemy, the Iroquois.

.The 20 companies of the Carignan Regiment  arrived on the Charentian  coasts at the end of the 1664 ~ 1665 winter.

Recruitment in the region  Aunis-Saintonge-Poitou-Angoumois permitted troop reinforcements

so that each company had better than 50 men.

After reveling in the city's streets ,  the Regiment leaft the rochellian roads in Spring 1665 to reach Quebec.

The embarkment stretched over more than a month.
